Jacksonville, Florida, July 14, 2017 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- The U.S. Department of the Navy, Naval Supply Systems Command, NAVSUP Fleet Logistics Center in Jacksonville released on Friday, July 14 a presolicitation notice in which it outlined plans to issue a solicitation, and subsequently a contract, for a small business contractor to provide biomedical hazardous waste collection and disposal services at the Navy Drug Screening Laboratory (NDSL Jax) at Naval Air Station.
NAVSUP intends the contractor to begin providing services on October 1, 2017, with a period of performance of 12 months. After, according to the presolicitation, NAVSUP may exercise one or more of four one-year option periods, with a six-month option for extension IAW FAR 52.217-8, if exercised.
The FSC Code is F108. The NAICS Code is 562119, and the size standard is $38.5 million.
According to the presolicitation, the contractor who receives the contract must provide 96-gallon red bin Schaefer Containers, for the collection of urine specimens. The container(s) must be in good working condition, have a flip top with handle and two wheels located on the back for easy mobility, and come with red liner bags.
The contractor also must provide collection services on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays, which, according to the presolicitation, will involve collecting approximately 8-16 containers. The estimated annual weight of urine specimen is 275,000 lbs.
The contractor must deliver and maintain at least 15 containers on-site, and autoclave and/or incinerate all biomedical waste in a qualified facility, in accordance with state and federal regulations.
NAVSUP intends to release the official solicitation on August 8, and include in the solicitation response information and evaluation criteria.
