Picture a gleaming new hospital with state-of-the-art diagnostic tools and specially designed surgical suites, filled with highly trained clinicians ready to perform everything from knee surgery to endoscopy.
It may sound like the hospital you would visit if you needed medical treatment. However, this facility is strictly for patients of the four-legged variety.
Veterinary Specialty and Emergency Center (VSEC), a BluePearl Veterinary Partners hospital, is opening this new facility today at 625 Ridge Pike in Conshohocken. The facility will join two other VSEC hospitals in the area: one in Levittown and the other in Philadelphia.
VSEC hospitals aren’t where your pets go for routine care. They are advanced medical facilities that are open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year to handle any emergency or specialty situation a pet might encounter.
Like other VSEC hospitals, the Conshohocken facility will operate by referral, which means its doctors partner with primary care veterinarians to deliver the best treatment plans for each patient. This respect for the bond between patient, pet parent and family veterinarian has earned VSEC a reputation for excellence.
Every day, VSEC’s board-certified specialists and emergency clinicians perform complex procedures once reserved for human medicine.
“There is a growing recognition that pets are members of our families,” said Dr. Robert Orsher, a board-certified veterinary surgeon who is co-medical director of VSEC and one of its founders. “As a result, we’ve seen an increasing demand for high quality veterinary care. We’re pleased that our new hospital will allow us to offer that level of superior care to the pets of the Western Philadelphia suburbs and Conshohocken community.”
The new Conshohocken hospital has space for an intensive care unit (ICU), surgical and endoscopy suites and an infectious disease ward as well. It will also feature many of the same equipment found in human hospitals, including a 64-slice CT scanner, laparoscopy, arthroscopy, ultrasound, digital radiography and more.
”What makes this hospital truly special is the people who work there,” said Heather Hennessey, practice manager for VSEC in Conshohocken. Everyone at the hospital, from the friendly people behind the front desk to the veterinary technicians and clinicians, is passionate about providing the best possible care for pets.
“Integrity and compassion are essential to quality veterinary care,” said Hennessey. “That means taking extra time to call a worried pet parent or hugging a nervous patient. We all love pets, and that enthusiasm shows in the care we provide.”
