American Health Council Names Emilio Canal, Jr., DDS, FASD, to Dentistry Board


NEW YORK, Aug. 16, 2017 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Dr. Emilio Canal, Jr., DDS, FASD at Dental Group at Reston Station, has been selected to join the Dentistry Board at the American Health Council. He will be sharing his knowledge and expertise in Cosmetic Dentistry, General Dentistry, and Orthodontics.

Dr. Canal has spent the past 26 years in the healthcare industry. He completed his undergraduate studies at the University of Miami and received his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from Georgetown University School of Dentistry in 1990.

Dr. Canal’s day-to-day responsibilities include performing root canals on patients, orthodontics, and general dentistry procedures. The Dental Group at Reston Station, with a focus on preventive, restorative, and cosmetic dentistry, is comprised of experienced dental hygienists trained in treating and maintaining periodontal disease as part of the soft tissue management program.

Dr. Canal attributes his success to a strong work ethic. Among his many accomplishments, he is most proud of being a Fellow of the Academy for Sports Dentistry, where he was elected President in 1999 and 2009, and being inducted into the Hall of Fame at South Lakes High School in 2016 for his support of the Athletic Department. His long-term goals include continued success in all areas of his career.

Dr. Canal’s many awards and honors include a Distinguished Service Award from the Virginia Interscholastic Athletic Administration Association in 1999 and Lifetime Achievement Award from the Academy for Sports Dentistry in 2014. Washington Checkbook Magazine rated him Top Dentist and Washingtonian Magazine rated him Top Dentist in the Washington Metro Area in 2015.

Dr. Canal is affiliated with the American Dental Association, Northern Virginia Dental Society, Academy for Sports Dentistry, Academy of Laser Dentistry, American Academy of Oral Medicine, U.S. Lacrosse Sports Science and Safety Committee, and U.S. Soccer Federation Medical Advisory Committee. Charitable organizations he works with include Leukemia Society, D.C. United – Major League Soccer, U.S. Soccer Federation National Teams, South Lakes High School, Oakton High School, Official U.S. Olympic Committee Provider, and Washington Spirit.

In his free time, Dr. Canal enjoys traveling and watching sports.
