Researchers at Black Friday Dealer identify the best deals on the most popular consumer products for Black Friday and Cyber Monday. By driving more shoppers online through extended sales periods, total spending during Cyber Monday 2017 is on track to reach new heights. Over $650 billion was spent by shoppers during the 2016 holiday shopping season. For the past six years this number has been growing at close to 5% annually, based on survey data from the National Retail Federation (NRF).
Whilst historically Black Friday has involved lengthy queues and chaotic scenes at retail stores, the transition to online deals has eased the pressure on brick and mortar sales. According to the NRF over half of total spending during Black Friday 2016 was online. Last year was the first time that e-commerce sales outpaced spending in stores, demonstrating the significance of the web in driving sales.
The annual Black Friday sales event kicked off on Monday, November 20th, with online deals from the biggest retailers lasting an entire week. Deals end soon after Cyber Monday.
