SAN FRANCISCO, Nov. 29, 2017 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Bugcrowd, the global leader in crowdsourced security, today announced the company will manage payment processing for Samsung Electronics’ Mobile Security Rewards Program. The program, launched in September, covers all of Samsung’s mobile devices currently receiving monthly and quarterly security updates, and rewards security researchers up to $200,000 per vulnerability submitted, depending on severity.
“Samsung provides industry-leading devices and experiences for its customers – and engaging the white hat hacker community illustrates the importance they place on cybersecurity as part of this,” said Casey Ellis, Founder and CTO, Bugcrowd. “By adopting a bug bounty program covering all mobile products, Samsung is not only accessing the most powerful set of resources available, but also demonstrating their commitment to security. We are proud to work with such a security-centric organization to help minimize the risk to the millions of consumers using Samsung mobile devices.”
The constantly evolving security landscape has made it necessary for organizations to react to threats in near real-time. A vulnerability disclosure program ensures organizations receive the information needed to achieve this. Bugcrowd architects security expertise into the design, support and management of every program. Companies like Mastercard, TripAdvisor, Pinterest, Motorola, FitBit, Western Union, NETGEAR, OWASP, Fiat Chrysler of America and now Samsung rely on this level of service to optimize the success of their programs.
“At Samsung, we understand the importance of protecting our customers’ data, which is why all of our devices and services are designed with security at their core. Our Mobile Security Rewards Program is yet another initiative being undertaken by Samsung to further this commitment,” said Henry Lee, Senior Vice President of Mobile Security Technologies Group, Mobile Communications business at Samsung Electronics. “Bugcrowd helps fortify partnership with the security research community by ensuring the community receives payouts in a timely manner.”
