WOBURN, Mass., Dec. 07, 2017 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Yield10 Bioscience, Inc. (NASDAQ:YTEN) announced that CSO Kristi Snell, Ph.D., will be presenting today on a panel being held at the CanolaWeek 2017 conference. Dr. Snell’s presentation is titled “Technology for increasing seed yield and oil content in oilseed crops” and is taking place on a panel scheduled from 1:00 to 2:30 pm local time as part of the Canola Innovation Day program. CanolaWeek 2017, sponsored by the Canola Council of Canada and Ag-West Bio, Inc., is being held December 5-7, 2017 in Saskatoon, SK, Canada.
In the presentation, Dr. Snell will highlight the approach Yield10 and its wholly owned Canadian subsidiary, Metabolix Oilseeds, are taking to increase seed yield and oil content in oilseed crops, including canola. She will discuss ongoing research with C3003, an algal gene Yield10 is deploying as a novel yield trait for C3 photosynthetic crops including Camelina, canola, soybean and rice. Data from Yield10 suggests that C3003 may provide an entirely new strategy to improve seed yield by bringing in new metabolic functionality from non-plant systems. In addition, she will also describe the design and development of new traits for improving oil content based on genome editing approaches to drive increases in oil biosynthesis.
