Council on Foundations Announces New Chief Operating Officer


Arlington, VA, Jan. 09, 2018 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- The Council on Foundations is pleased to announce that Julianne Sobral has been named its new Chief Operating Officer. Julianne comes to the role after serving the last two and a half years as its Senior Vice President for Operations and Talent Development and having been with the organization since 2013.

In her new role, she is responsible for the operations of all external facing Council activities, including major programs, legal, membership, research, government relations, DEI, communications, marketing and professional development.

Julianne is the co-founder of a group for HR professionals in philanthropy and convenes these senior foundation leaders annually to discuss the sector’s pressing talent issues. She also leads the Council’s Leading Together Conference, which is the largest gathering of foundation leaders in the world.

Prior to joining the Council, Julianne worked in Human Resources at The Washington Post Company and The McClatchy Company. In addition, she helped set up the human resource function for two prestigious organizations in the DC area.

A graduate of the University of Virginia, Julianne has also obtained the highest professional certifications available from the Society of Human Resources Professionals and the HR Certification Institute: SHRM-SCP & SPHR.
