1-800-GOT-JUNK? Rounds Up the Weirdest Junk of 2017

People threw away a lot of crazy things last year, but our #1 pick is the weirdest!

Vancouver, Jan. 11, 2018 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- A day in the life of a junk hauler isn’t quite as exciting as flying to the moon or fighting crime. But some days, it can be a truly unique experience. With franchises across North America and Australia, 1-800-GOT-JUNK? has found some seriously strange items over the years. We’re sharing them again in our annual round-up of Weird Junk.

Here are the top 5 we had the pleasure of hauling in 2017:

  • An axe-wielding doll that rivals the bride of Chucky
  • Vintage David Hasselhoff memorabilia, because The Hoff never stops being cool
  • Popcorn costumes that’ll make you feel like a Colonel. ...We love a good pun.
  • A stylish goat repping our signature, blue wig spirit
  • And everyone’s fave: a giant, wooden bug

Check out our full list to see them all.

Brian Scudamore, founder and CEO of 1-800-GOT-JUNK?, shares the items that stand out most from his days on the trucks: “John Wayne’s bible, several tonnes of escargot, 400 brand new wedding dresses... You never know what you’re going to get!”

Everything we pick up has a story behind it. But more importantly, junk is disposed of responsibly — diverted from the landfill or donated when possible. To learn more about our weird junk or the types of items we take away, visit our website.

This thing gave our South Bay franchise the creepy-crawlies! It must have really bugged its owner, too, which is why we ended up with it. This wooden spider was hand-carved by a client for a high school project about 25 years ago. It was no 'Hassel' for our Melbourne team to get rid of this memorabilia. Apparently, he *is* popular outside of Germany.
