Topeka, Kansas, March 16, 2018 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- March 16, 2018 (Topeka, Kan.) – Access to affordable dental services for children continues to be an under met need in the United States. Lower-income and minority children are far less likely to have routine dental checkups and suffer disproportionate rates of tooth decay with 80 percent of cavities in permanent teeth impacting just 25 percent of U.S. children. This is why Adventure Dental & Vision, a leading provider of high-quality dental and vision care for children in Topeka, hosted a Wellness Day for Amerigroup members today.
“As tooth decay continues to be among the most common chronic diseases that impacts children in the U.S., partnerships like this one with Adventure Dental & Vision, help bring dental care education to local communities and increase increases access to preventable care through early home care and regular dental and vision exams,” said Frank Clepper, Amerigroup Kansas president. “Amerigroup is proud to partner with Children’s Dental & Vision Center to provide Topeka children health services locally, because the earlier that children get their dental and vision exams, the healthier they will stay throughout their lives.”
Through this event, Adventure Dental & Vision Center along with Amerigroup provided access to comprehensive dental and vision care as well as other health and wellness resources including healthy eating recipes and snacks, children’s blood pressure screenings, “Ask a Nurse” and more. “Ask a Nurse” provided nurses onsite to answer questions parents might have about their child's health care.
“Dental and vision care is essential to children’s development and educational success,” said Dr. Sheila Brown, DDS, dental owner of Adventure Dental & Vision in Topeka, “We are pleased to partner with Amerigroup to bring valuable services to local Topeka residents.”
Adventure Dental and Vision opened its doors in Topeka in 2016 and offers comprehensive dental and vision care, including dental exams and treatment, cleanings, sealants and fluoride; and eye exams, glasses, and more for children in Topeka.
Access to affordable dental services for children continues to be an under met need in the United States.
