CALGARY, Alberta, March 29, 2018 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Calibre Environmental Ltd. (“Calibre Environmental”) is pleased to announce that the company has been selected as a finalist for an Alberta Emerald Award in the Small Business Category. The Emerald Awards celebrate everything that’s happened in environmental preservation, recognizing and celebrating environmental achievements and stewardship in Alberta.
“It’s an incredible honour for Calibre Environmental to be nominated for such a prestigious award and to be recognized by the Emerald Foundation for our dedication to waste reduction in Alberta,” said President Shayne Butcher. “We passed some significant environmental milestones in 2017 and we are thrilled to be recognized for our efforts.”
Calibre Environmental has been nominated for the company’s role in the Alberta Paint Stewardship Program and the process it created to turn post-consumer paint into recycled paint, which is sold in Canada under the EcoCoat brand. In 2017 the company celebrated a momentous milestone by creating 3 million gallons of paint and recycling 6 million kilograms of paint cans in 15 years. During its busy paint recycling season, Calibre Environmental processes over 1,500 paint cans per day and employs 16 people. The company sells recycled paint in Canada, the U.S., and overseas.
Award finalists were announced at Theatre Junction Grand today by Anouk Campbell, President, Decentralized Energy Canada (DEC), and Connor Tapp, Executive Director, Green Calgary. The awards will be presented in Calgary on June 5, 2018, also at Theatre Junction Grand.
“We look forward to the ceremony in June and want to congratulate the other nominees and wish them the best of luck in their respective categories,” said Butcher.
