Renewable Energy and Power Files Provisional Patent for Ambient Air Sterilization Panel Lights

N. Las Vegas, NV, April 03, 2018 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Renewable Energy and Power (OTC: RBNW), a U.S.-based lighting innovation company, today announced its filing of a provisional patent for a unique LED Sterilization Panel Light intended as a low cost alternative to free standing and other types.

The panel lights combine the benefits of cost saving LED lighting with Ultraviolet Germicidal Irradiation (UVGI) which safely cleanses the air of pathogens while providing high savings, energy efficient illumination.

Clean air is delivered when ambient air is drawn into the ceiling troffer by means of a nearly silent fan and passed before a commercial sterilizing UVGI light and a HEPA filter before being circulated back into the room.

Growing Need for Air Purification

Due to rising levels of global air pollution, a burgeoning global vehicle fleet and increasing incidence of respiratory disease, demand for innovative air purification is growing, expected to exceed $29 billion by 2021 according to recent TechSci Report.

Lighting Integration Advantages

There exist numerous advantages to overhead UVGI that do not radically increase the cost of the lights.

The footprint of unintegrated, free standing models is eliminated allowing the efficient use of overhead space to perform the critical function.

A higher clean air delivery rate (CADR) can result from numerous instead of a single, ambient air cleaning standalone unit.

Of course the integration of lighting and UVGI function is designed to reduce the combined cost of the two, critical in industrial and commercial applications.

Marketing Plan

While initial market focus will be on the 300,000 facility strong healthcare sector - doctors, dental, pharma - the marketing plan includes hospitality, institutional and consumer sectors.

Near term milestones are submission of applications and subsequent granting of official certification by UL and DesignLights Consortium (DLC) for eligibility in state and utility energy efficiency rebate programs.

“With this patent filing we inexpensively put our flag in the ground to claim ownership of an innovation with great disruptive potential in the field of lighting,” said company CEO Donald MacIntyre. “We plan to leverage this unique value-add to accelerate market share in higher value markets.”
