New York, NY, April 13, 2018 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Young Survival Coalition® (YSC), the foremost organization for young women affected by breast cancer, has opened nominations for standout contributors to the young adult breast cancer space in a number of categories, including advocacy, research and more. In celebration of YSC’s 20th anniversary, the organization will be honoring these “Game Changers” in 2018.
Breast cancer in young women is different, both biologically and in terms of the impact on the life of the affected woman and her inner circle. Studies have shown the disease is more aggressive in young women, and the impact of cancer in young adulthood can be devastating in a number of unique ways — including fertility, career and identity.
That’s why in 1998 three young women, frustrated by the lack of resources and research focused on young women with breast cancer, founded Young Survival Coalition. The organization is now celebrating its 20th year.
Young Survival Coalition is accepting nominations until April 30, 2018 at 20years.youngsurvival.org.
About Young Survival Coalition (YSC)
Now in its 20th year, Young Survival Coalition (YSC) is the premier organization dedicated to young women with breast cancer. Founded by three young survivors, YSC began as a grassroots organization to advocate on behalf of all young women diagnosed with breast cancer to increase their length and quality of life. Based in New York City, with networks nationwide, YSC provides free resources, connections and educational materials so young women with breast cancer feel supported, empowered and hopeful. YSC seeks to educate and influence the medical, research and legislative communities to address breast cancer in young women, and to ensure that no young woman faces breast cancer alone.
