New Book Series Outlines a Framework for Mathematics Success in K–12 Classrooms

Bloomington, Ind., April 18, 2018 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- The Every Student Can Learn Mathematics series, published by Solution Tree, offers a comprehensive approach to increasing mathematics achievement across grade levels.

The series recommends six teacher team actions and two coaching actions that enable readers to improve practices related to mathematics homework, grading, assessment, intervention, instruction, tasks, coaching and collaboration. To successfully execute the suggested actions, K–12 teacher teams must work within a professional learning community, which calls on staff to focus on learning, build a collaborative culture and create a results orientation.

Each book introduces the reflect, refine and act cycle of continuous improvement, teaching members of grade-level and course-based teams to:

  1. Reflect upon current mathematics content, routines and practices and evaluate their quality against research-affirmed criteria.
  1. Refine and update current mathematics content, routines and practices for improved student learning on a unit-by-unit basis.
  1. Act to ensure the improvement of those routines engage students, empower them to persevere and motivate them to take ownership of their learning.

In total, the series includes four titles, each written by a team of internationally recognized mathematics experts and practitioners:
