ROUYN-NORANDA, Quebec, May 17, 2018 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- It is with great enthusiasm that the Quebec Mineral Exploration Association (QMEA) has announced that Pierre Lassonde, of the Franco-Nevada Corporation, will be Xplor 2018’s honorary president. In addition to presiding over the event on October 17 and 18, 2018, Mr. Lassonde will also be giving a conference at the event.
It is an honour for the QMEA to welcome Pierre Lassonde as honorary president of the Xplor 2018 Convention. Cofounder and vice-president of the Franco-Nevada Corporation, Mr. Lassonde has been involved with the company since 1982. In the last 20 years, Franco-Nevada, which has an innovative business model, has much higher than average returns on investments to its shareholders. Its market capitalization is upward of $12 billion USD.
From 2005 to 2009, Mr. Lassonde was chair of the World Gold Council. In 2006, he was appointed to the Canadian Academy of Engineering, which made up of the most experienced engineers in the country. Finally, in 2013, he was inducted into the Canadian Mining Hall of Fame.
