PUEBLO, CO, May 29, 2018 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Sprout Tiny Homes (OTC PINK: STHI) announces it has become DOE Zero Energy Ready Home Partner and one of its models is already certified as a Zero Energy Ready Home. The Zero Energy Ready home is a high performance home so energy efficient, all or most annual energy consumption can be offset with renewable energy. DOE Zero Energy Ready Homes are verified by a qualified third-party and are at least 40%-50% more energy efficient than a typical new home. This generally corresponds to a Home Energy Rating System (HERS) Index Score in the low- to mid-50s, depending on the size of the home and region in which it is built.
“Sprout is building homes of the Future - Today!” echoed Rod Stambaugh, President of Sprout Tiny Homes. “We are extremely proud to have achieved this Zero Energy Ready status as it is a huge accomplishment for Sprout and is a symbol of excellence for energy savings, comfort, health, quality, and durability met by a select group of leading builders meeting US Department of Energy Guidelines. Achieving Zero Energy Ready Home status is a tremendous compliment to our commitment of providing chemical free interiors, the use of innovative technology, infrared radiant floor heat and engineered ERV systems to provide fresh interior air to make our homes the most comfortable and healthy homes on the market today! There’s a reason why an extremely small percentage of homebuilders achieve Zero Energy Ready Home status - It’s hard to do. If it was easy, everyone would be doing it.”
Sprout is expanding its models to include homes with integrated foundations and plans to certify each new model as a Zero Energy Ready Home. Sprout is actively involved in commercial tiny home design and manufacturing of its homes for use residential home communities, workforce housing and overnight hotel / resort environments. As housing becomes more and more unaffordable nationwide, Sprout continues to innovate with its home designs and is working on a decentralization strategy to expand its delivery of homes in Texas, Colorado and New Mexico.
Building cheap doesn’t mean “affordable” and developers are hearing that message loud and clear from home buyers. “Sprout is changing the way developers and home buyers think about the term “affordable housing” says Stambaugh. “Affordable housing means the total cost of ownership including the cost of the structure, the annual energy and maintenance costs for the lifetime of the home.”
