ExcelinEd Releases New Resource for Improving the Education to Career Pipeline

TALLAHASSEE, Fla, May 30, 2018 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- ExcelinEd released Building Cross-Sector Partnerships to Support Career and Technical Education Pathways: A Playbook for State Policymakers, the second installment in a series of resources to inspire stakeholders to align career and technical education (CTE) programs to regional and statewide industry and workforce demands through specific, sequential steps.

“There is currently a significant gap in our country between the knowledge and skills needed by employers and those possessed by workers,” said Patricia Levesque, ExcelinEd CEO. “As a result, employers struggle to hire qualified applicants while many in the workforce face the realization that their skills are insufficient for existing opportunities or, even worse, no longer relevant. But it doesn’t have to be this way. ExcelinEd's career and technical education playbook series gives state education leaders and local employers a guide for improving the 'education to career' pipeline in their states.”

Each state has a wide range of stakeholders—K-12 state education leaders, postsecondary institutions and local employers—who can inform the direction and outcomes of CTE programs. However, partnerships among these stakeholders are not always easy to cultivate and sustain. This playbook examines key elements of robust cross-sector partnerships, includes insights from experienced leaders and explores ways policymakers can support these partnerships to strengthen CTE program outcomes for students.
