TOMS RIVER, N.J., May 31, 2018 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- While traditional facelift surgery has been one of the most popular surgical cosmetic enhancement procedures for decades, a number of advances have been made over the years that are designed to provide less invasive alternatives to individuals who may not require a full facelift to achieve their goals. At the recent annual meeting of the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ASAPS) – a gathering of doctors from around the world to talk about new and emerging treatment techniques – New Jersey plastic surgeon Christopher Godek, MD presented an innovation called Xact technology, which gives patients a minimally-invasive facial and neck rejuvenation option that does not typically require lengthy incisions or general anesthesia. Cypris Medical, the company that develops and manufactures Xact, was ultimately given the ASAPS “Best of Hot Topics” award for the presentation.
The Xact device has been cleared by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration for minimally-invasive face and neck lift suturing. Dr. Godek says the Xact technology could be a true game-changer in the field of facial and neck rejuvenation. He notes that the procedure can be particularly useful for patients who may no longer experience significant benefits from cosmetic injectables but do not yet need or desire a full facelift to achieve significant, long-lasting results.
Xact utilizes a series of advanced suturing techniques to reduce signs of age such as wrinkles and the formation of jowls along the mid to lower face. Dr. Godek notes that the procedure can be performed on an outpatient basis, and should take well under an hour to complete. He explains that the Xact technology requires only a few tiny incisions that can be well-concealed in the hairline, and most patients can have the procedure performed under sedation rather than general anesthesia, which can help minimize the recovery time. Dr. Godek says the results may last for more than two years, well-beyond the capabilities of many dermal fillers.
The Xact facial rejuvenation technique is expected to be available in the latter part of 2018, and Dr. Godek says he is excited to bring this innovative, minimally-invasive treatment to patients at his practice.
