PaymentSpring Develops Unique Check Scanning Feature

OMAHA, Neb. • June 22, 2018 • PaymentSpring, a Nelnet Company (NNI) and a leading provider of online payment technology, has made accepting check payments easier for businesses and nonprofits.

A solution unique to PaymentSpring allows users to scan checks to add them to their payment gateway using a mobile phone application.

St. Baldrick’s Foundation, a nonprofit that funds childhood cancer research primarily through its signature head-shaving events, is the feature’s first user.

At the head-shaving events, attendees often donate via check. Nate Rusch, St. Baldrick’s technology director, said PaymentSpring’s new check scanning has streamlined the process and created efficiencies for their volunteers.

“We’ve had great feedback,” Rusch said. “Volunteers being able to see all the donations appear online in real-time has been a tremendous benefit, and we now have access to funds much more quickly.”

The nonprofit industry is just one where paper checks are still used. PaymentSpring President Mike Phelan said the company looks forward to easing the pain points checks pose for other customers.

“PaymentSpring is here to solve payment acceptance issues through innovation,” Phelan said. “This new check scanning functionality solves an age-old frustration for any organization still handling paper checks.”

The new feature is available now for both Android and iOS. For more information, visit paymentspring.com.
