LASSA launches Fostering Differences to Promulgate the Strength and Durability of Canadian Diversity project across Ontario, Quebec, and Nova Scotia.
OTTAWA, July 05, 2018 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Catch a year of diversity events in Ottawa, Montreal, Halifax, and Toronto! Engage in Cultural Values Discussion Groups, Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms Workshops, an International Cuisine Day in Gatineau, a Cultural Arts Exhibit in Halifax, and a Multicultural Women’s Forum in Toronto! The Lebanese and Arab Social Services Agency (LASSA), a settlement agency facilitating the integration of newcomers into the National Capital Region for over 25 years, is excited to announce the official launch of their project that is designed to build on Canada’s strength as a diverse and inclusive society; by creating bridges between ethnocultural communities and fostering civic engagement.
“Canada has a rich history of multiculturalism, but how do we move from the promotion and acknowledgement of diversity in our society to one that is at the forefront of respecting and valuing the strength that differences bring. A durable Canadian diversity is a society that is looking to the future in a global world and continually challenging prejudice, discrimination and the place of minority communities, as a unified nation. LASSA is thrilled to launch this project with financial support from the Government of Canada, to engage ethnocultural communities in discussion surrounding cultural values, Canadian rights and democratic values, and full inclusion in society,” says the project Outreach Officer.
Following Canadian Multiculturalism Day last week, LASSA is officially launching their project website www.fosteringdiversity.ca. Check them out online to learn more about the exciting lineup of events and leave your input on building a stronger diversity. Engage in dialogue and connect with us at www.facebook.com/strongdiversity and https://twitter.com/StrongDiversity. The year of participation will culminate in a one-day conference in the nation’s capital on intercultural understanding, integration, and inclusion. Come share your cultural values, heritage and immigration experience for a stronger Canada!
