AppRiver Offers Free Emergency Services to Businesses in Harm's Way

Gulf Breeze, Florida, Sept. 12, 2018 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Florence. Helene. Isaac. These are just three of the named storms swirling around in the Atlantic – with the possibility of more to come.

With AppRiver’s headquarters located on the coast of Florida, we understand how bad weather can create a perfect storm for businesses. That is why AppRiver, the leading channel-first provider of cloud-based cybersecurity and productivity services, has activated its free Digital Disaster Preparedness Service (DDPS).

First made available in 2005, DDPS is designed to prevent businesses from losing email in the event of an email server outage. It is offered at no charge to organizations facing imminent natural disasters such as a hurricane or flooding.

“When it comes to hurricanes, we’ve been there. The danger, the preparation, the stress… we get it because we’ve been through it many times,” said Michael Murdoch, AppRiver CEO and president. “It doesn’t get easier with experience, but you do learn how to better prepare. Our Digital Disaster Preparedness Service was created to keep your business email flowing during a disaster. That way, you can focus on taking care of the business that really matters in times like these – the safety of your family and employees.”

DDPS is a special offering for businesses that find themselves within the cone of uncertainty in advance of a hurricane or other natural disaster. The cloud-based service averts email loss and bounced messages by redirecting an organization’s email to one of AppRiver’s secure data centers, while also blocking any unwanted messages – including those that contain phishing and malware attacks. Once the danger passes and connectivity is restored, AppRiver forwards all outage-period email back to the company’s servers.

Registration is simple and typically takes less than 10 minutes to complete. Businesses only need to contact AppRiver to receive step-by-step instructions for redirecting their email. Almost immediately, AppRiver will begin monitoring the company’s server activity. When AppRiver detects a loss in connectivity with the email server, its service will begin queuing the business's incoming messages in one of its safely located, hardened data centers until the business’s servers are able to receive email again. Businesses also can choose a setup configuration that allows them to access and respond to email, again free of charge, until their servers are up and running.
