Mount Laurel, New Jersey, Sept. 27, 2018 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- NFL Alumni (NFLA) today announced a partnership with NFL Leagues United (NFLLU) which offers a new approach to student athletic development.
The NFLLU was established by a group of former NFL players and San Diego marketing executive Brock Watson in 2016.
The partnership will launch youth flag football leagues with NFL Alumni Chapters throughout the country and set the stage for opportunities for national tournaments and competition. The program is set to launch in Spring of 2019, with Baltimore, Dallas, Green Bay, Northern California, San Diego, and Southwest Florida being the first NFL Alumni Chapters to implement the league.
“Our partnership with NFL Alumni provides an amazing opportunity for our kids to interact with some of their favorite players living in their communities,” says Brock Watson, NFL Leagues United Commissioner. “Not only do the kids get a kick out of it, the former NFL players also enjoy running around with the kids because they remember how beneficial those experiences were for them as kids.”
NFLLU aims to bridge the gap between dedication to sports and commitment to academics for youth and high school athletes. Through its core values of education, community, athletic development, and athletic assessment, NFLLU takes a comprehensive approach to providing student athletes the tools they need to succeed on the field, in the classroom, and beyond.
“Partnering with NFFLU will provide increased opportunity for youth programs throughout the country,” says NFL Alumni CEO Elvis Gooden. “Connecting NFL Alumni Chapters with NFLLU will be an essential element in creating a successful nationwide league program.”
NFL Alumni looks forward to expanding its mission of “Caring for Kids” by creating a winning team alongside NFL Leagues United.

About NFL Leagues United
NFL Leagues United was founded by marketing executive Brock Watson and a group of former NFL and NCAA athletes with the mission of building a true academic and athletic sports league to build strong student athletes and not just athletes. Leagues United partners with local city schools to develop a program that helps transition kids into the high school game along with the academic demands. This is achieved through a structured stair-stepped program where boys and girls, ages 5-14, are exposed to different aspects of the game as they get older and progress through the league (starting with standard NFL flag style 5v5 and 6v6, moving on to 7v7, and culminating with 8-man). This is a unique model as most cities have leagues that are either all flag or 7v7 designed for skill positions. Therefore, it is not only important that we gradually transition the kids into more high school style game play, but also include the 8-man as the final step into tackle football as it gives our bigger kids, who will most likely be playing on the line, a chance to get some technical work in (hands and feet) before putting the pads on.
