Teleport 3.0 allows InfoSec, system architects and systems engineers to manage privileged access to their infrastructure across multiple cloud providers and on-premise through either SSH or Kubernetes, while meeting compliance requirements, reducing operational overhead, and enabling complete visibility into user behavior.
Access to infrastructure has traditionally been done through the twenty-three year old protocol, SSH, that enables secure system administration and file transfers over insecure networks. With the rapid adoption of Kubernetes, an open-source system for automating deployment, scaling and management of containerized applications, new workflows are emerging for managing IT infrastructure. This means that companies need to adopt new security processes and solutions while not completely abandoning current methodologies. Teleport 3.0 mitigates this issue by offering support for both Kubernetes and SSH, giving system administrators a single privileged access management solution that supports both modern and traditional workflows. Teleport is also cloud agnostic so organizations can use it across multiple cloud providers, resulting in reduced operational overhead and increased efficiency.

This is a critical issue in the case of Kubernetes, where a breach can give attackers access to highly sensitive information. For example, Tesla was a recent victim when attackers gained entry to its cloud servers through an unsecured Kubernetes admin console and used the servers for crypto mining. The vulnerability was discovered during a study by security researchers at Redlock, who “found hundreds of Kubernetes administration consoles accessible over the internet without any password protection.” Teleport 3.0 offers companies security best practices out-of-the-box so they can continue to meet compliance requirements as they adopt Kubernetes.
