Cyber Threat Alliance Continues Strong Growth With New Members AlienVault, Dragos, Lastline, and NEC

Expanding member base supports CTA mission to improve cybersecurity for all

WASHINGTON, Oct. 04, 2018 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Cyber Threat Alliance (CTA), a nonprofit organization working to improve the cybersecurity of the global digital ecosystem, today announced the joining of four new members. AlienVault, an AT&T Company, Dragos, Lastline, and NEC Corporation have all joined CTA, bringing CTA’s membership to 20 companies from across the cybersecurity industry who have joined together to share timely, actionable, and contextualized threat information and help improve defenses against advanced cyber adversaries.

“With access to one of the largest networks in the world, AlienVault is excited to share our foundational knowledge and threat data with CTA members to help enable cybersecurity teams and companies of all sizes,” said Jaime Blasco, Vice President & Chief Scientist of AlienVault, an AT&T Company.

“We’re looking forward to contributing to this group of committed cyber defenders,” commented Brian Laing, Lastline’s head of global strategic partnerships. "CTA provides a thriving ecosystem capable of sharing valuable threat intelligence to better understand malicious actors at machine speed and scale. Our ability to share malicious behaviors and IOCs captured by our AI-powered threat analytics will enable us to further CTA’s mission of better protecting the digital ecosystem.”

“As the number of available targets in cyberspace increases, we need a better understanding of where malicious actors are focusing their attacks, so we can focus our collective defense,” said Michael Daniel, CEO and President of CTA. “Therefore, it’s encouraging to see more companies understand the urgency of this mission and commit to sharing their data to collaboratively combat malicious cyber activity. We’re excited to welcome our newest affiliate members, Dragos and NEC, alongside AlienVault and Lastline who will contribute to and benefit from the rich data sharing within CTA as our newest contributing members.”

Cyberspace is growing rapidly, increasing the available attack surface for malicious actors to wreak havoc and exploit vulnerabilities. Sharing information between cybersecurity companies – at machine-speed, as well as through coordinated disruption activities and vulnerability disclosures, and during significant cyber incidents – helps provide visibility and generate insights about malicious activities and behavior patterns in order to better understand our adversaries’ goals and tactics. CTA members protect customers across all continents and all 16 U.S. critical infrastructure sectors, and the membership of these new companies will help expand the information available to CTA members by generating new types of data, as well as further expanding our global footprint.

“Dragos fills a critical need with the world’s only dedicated industrial threat intelligence. We will work with CTA to provide insights into what really matters most for the industrial asset owners and operators of the ICS community and the threats that target them. The philosophy of Dragos is founded on collaboration, sharing, and education, so we’re excited to be a part of an organization that shares those beliefs,” Sergio Caltagirone, Director of Threat Intelligence, Dragos.

“Cybersecurity is a global issue. At NEC, our focus is on using information and communication technology to enrich people's lives, and CTA’s mission of securing the global digital ecosystem is inline with our vision of orchestrating a brighter world,” said Kazuhiro Sakai, Executive Vice President, CIO and CISO of NEC. “We look forward to our partnership with CTA to elevate security throughout the world.”
