American Global Logistics Named One of Supply Chain Brain’s “100 Great Supply Chain Partners of 2018”

AGL selected due to its work with Bassett Furniture

Atlanta, Oct. 23, 2018 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- American Global Logistics (AGL) was named one of Supply Chain Brain’s 100 Great Supply Chain Partners of 2018,” published in the October issue of the publication. AGL was selected due to its work with Bassett Furniture, headquartered in Bassett, Virginia, with 2017 revenue totaling more than $452M.

AGL handles all international shipping and customs entry for Bassett, and flows products to stocking stations in California, Virginia, Texas and North Carolina, with a fifth stocking operation planned for Mississippi. Moreover, there are 50-plus remote retailers that receive container-direct shipments that are managed by AGL as well.

“Seventy-five percent of all that we ship or sell is domestically produced,” said Jeb Bassett, Senior Vice President of Bassett’s wood division. “But 25 percent is imported. And it's the 25 percent that's imported where AGL does such a good job for us.”

Headquartered in Atlanta with operations centers in Virginia and North Carolina, AGL is one of the fastest-growing and most respected international supply chain and logistics solutions companies in the world. AGL serves as both a 3PL and 4PL, delivering competitive air, ocean and brokerage 3PL services and/or creating purpose-built supply chain technology solutions, depending upon customer requirements.

AGL Chief Operating Officer Blake Shumate oversees sees the logistics team at Bassett, which acts as a “funnel” — capturing all information, documents and invoices, as well as handling auditing and holding vendors accountable.

“Because we capture their data, we're able push back on carriers and vendors and get certain fees waived,” Shumate says. “We keep really tight hold on invoices that come through.”

AGL is a key player in the trans-Pacific trade lanes, and is rapidly expanding its reach into the trans-Atlantic and Latin America lanes, serving customers throughout the Americas, Asia, Europe, Middle East and Africa. The company’s cloud-based technology solutions extend the visibility and global reach of its customers’ multi-modal transportation requirements.

“American Global Logistics is an extension of Bassett Furniture. We are a part of the same team,” said Bassett. “They know our business, and they’re dependable, reliable and predictable.”
