NEW YORK, Oct. 25, 2018 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Atari®, one of the world's most iconic consumer brands and interactive entertainment producers, today announced the release schedule of its Atari Games division for the upcoming holiday season. Atari Games is, together with Atari Casino, Atari VCS, and Atari Partners, one of the four divisions of the Atari Group, whose description and key performance indicators are presented in greater detail here: Atari Business Units.
Based on the strength of its release schedule, Atari confirms its objective of profitable growth for the current financial year (April 1st, 2018 to March 31st, 2019).
The release schedule covers the following titles:
- RollerCoaster Tycoon® Touch™ has benefited from the successful launch of the water park expansion in July 2018 as well as the addition of new restaurant features in September 2018 in partnership with Foodgod (aka Jonathan Cheban), famous for his reality show appearances on the hit television show Keeping Up with the Kardashians, who gathers a community of 3 million followers. The spooky Halloween season launched in October 2018. In November 2018, Atari will release two new utility buildings including a new legendary building. Atari will also introduce the coin collector and a lifeguard to players’ water parks. December 2018 will be a special holiday season where players can celebrate the festive time with a winter wonderland in their park.
- RollerCoaster Tycoon Joyride™ for PlayStation®4 and enhanced for PlayStation®VR was released digitally in Europe on October 23, 2018 (distributor: Bigben Interactive); the US version will be released during the first quarter of 2019 (distributor: atGames).
- Citytopia™, developed in partnership with Nvizzio Creations, is a city-building simulation mobile game based on the RollerCoaster Tycoon Touch engine that will be released worldwide on December 13, 2018. In this game, players are tasked with building their city and transportation infrastructure to meet residents’ needs to create a happy society.
- Food Truck Frenzy™, developed in partnership with Workinman Interactive and social media influencer Foodgod (aka Jonathan Cheban), is a new food-themed, puzzle matching multiplayer mobile game that will be available worldwide on December 20, 2018.
- Days of Doom: Heroes United™, developed in partnership with Phosphor Studios, is a post-apocalyptic survival RPG on mobile platforms and will be available in limited beta on December 14, 2018, with a worldwide release on February 19, 2019. This game will allow players to manage a vulnerable town in a zombie-infested world, strengthening their defenses to survive onslaughts and recruiting eclectic heroes to explore the mysterious surrounding wasteland.
- Ninja Golf™, developed in partnership with Alpha Dog Games, will be released on mobile devices on February 26, 2019. Based on the original Atari 7800 game of the same name, this unique gameplay concept combines touch-based golf with endless running beat ‘em up elements for exciting player versus player battles on the green.
- RollerCoaster Tycoon® Adventures for Nintendo Switch™ is the first version of the franchise on this growing platform. The game will be released in November 2018 in the first European countries (distributor: Bigben Interactive) and during the first quarter of 2019 in the United States (distributor: atGames). The Nintendo Switch has an install base of over 20 million units and is currently the platform of preference for handheld games. RollerCoaster Tycoon Adventures offers specific functionalities that harness the full potential of the Nintendo Switch.
On the occasion of the holiday season, the Atari Group has worked with its license partners to support them in the release of a number of products licensed under the Atari brand. These licensed products will release in Europe and/or the United States:
- The pocket handheld console released by PQube, Ltd (Blaze) in Europe offers 50 classic Atari games for an affordable entry level price (Atari Handheld)
- Home arcade game cabinets in partnership with Tastemakers, LLC, targeting specifically the US retail market (Atari Home Arcade)
- The new Atari Flashback Series 9, under license with atGames, offering over 100 games published by Atari or other publishers, a series that has been successful for over 15 years (Atari Flashback 9)
These products are contributing to the activity of Atari Games mainly in the form of royalties, which impact the net profits of the Group and underline the Group’s confidence in the achievement of its profitable growth objective.
