NASHVILLE, Tenn., Oct. 30, 2018 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- The National Graphene Association (NGA), the main organization and body in the US advocating and promoting the commercialization of graphene, gathered the biggest names and global leaders from the largest graphene companies around one table to partake in targeted conversations. These conversations were centered on graphene commercialization, standardization, applications and product development, and global advances, as part of the Global Graphene Expo & Conference in Austin, Texas.
Discussions followed on the significant advances in the graphene market in 2018, potential of graphene in different industries, challenges for mass adoption of graphene and the need to refine the identity of graphene and address issues such as Health & Safety and standardization. Those leading the conversations included: James Baker, CEO of Graphene@Manchester & GEIC, Zina Jarrahi Cinker, Executive Director of NGA, Kari Hjelt, Head of Innovation at Graphene Flagship, Ray Gibbs, CEO of Haydale, Neill Ricketts, CEO of Versarien, Giulio Cesareo, CEO of Directa Plus, Warwick Grigor, First Graphene, Angela Hight Walker, Senior Researcher at National Institute of Standards and Technology, Bernhard Munzing, Sales Director at Sixth Element, Niloofar Ketabi, NanoXplore, Alex Jouvray, Aixtron and several more influential players in the graphene space.
"This is ‘the’ global event for the graphene companies and stakeholders to come together and showcase the exciting future of graphene. The Global Graphene Expo also provides a fantastic platform for the end-user industries evaluating graphene to explore what graphene can do for their segment," says Zina Jarrahi Cinker, Executive Director of NGA.
Events at the Global Graphene Expo included roundtable discussions on standardization, health and safety, graphene impact on the semiconductor and composite industry, and more. This gave attendees the opportunity to have an open dialogue with expert moderators on the topics while networking with those of the same interest. Keynote panels allowed the audience to hear and learn from industry powerhouses on specific topics such as the future of graphene in medical devices and telemedicine, the future of graphene in oil and gas industry, and more. The Stakeholder Session was a chance for the largest players in the graphene space to openly discuss the key challenges in the industry, such as standards, graphene safety, and setting up a targeted NGA industry taskforce that will focus on tackling issues and drive the industry led initiatives all-year round.
In between the exciting events at the main session were the exhibitions and networking opportunities. Exhibitors like Kennedy Labs, Directa Plus, Versarien, Grolltex, Graphene One, Ceylon Graphene Technologies, Nano-Master, Pacific Industrial Consultants, Asbury, Accurion, Disco HI-Tech, University of Mississippi, the Texas Governor’s Office, the Texas Workforce Commission, Carbonext Inc., and the University of Texas in Austin were able to showcase their remarkable graphene innovations and abilities to the crowd.
The Global Graphene Expo opened up a dialogue that allowed people to ask the questions needed to drive the graphene industry forward. The National Graphene Association would like to thank everyone involved in making this event a success and invite those interested to join the 2019 Global Graphene Expo in October 2019.
About the National Graphene Association (NGA)
The National Graphene Association is the main organization and body in the U.S. advocating and promoting the commercialization of graphene. NGA is focused on addressing critical issues such as policy and standards development that will result in effective integration of graphene and graphene based materials globally. NGA brings together current and future graphene stakeholders — entrepreneurs, companies, researchers, developers and suppliers, investors, venture capitalists and government agencies — to drive innovation, and to promote and facilitate the commercialization of graphene products and technologies.
