Miami, FL, Dec. 19, 2018 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Guests of The Ritz-Carlton Bal Harbour, Miami can look forward to a sweeter-than-usual welcome to the coastal sanctuary this holiday season. The oceanfront Miami resort is pleased to unveil its first-ever life-size gingerbread structure, a replica of the famous Haulover Lighthouse Restaurant that once stood nearby. Located in the lobby, the 18-foot structure pays homage to the memory of a beloved seafood restaurant and Miami landmark for sailors, fishermen, Miamians and tourists in search of a great meal. The lighthouse, which stood just north of Baker’s Haulover Bridge from 1937 until it burned down in 1967, is sure to bring feelings of nostalgia to those who visited.
The resort’s talented pastry team used 180 pounds of gingerbread, 200 pounds of frosting sugar and 20 pounds of hard candy to create the edible edifice. A labor of holiday love, more than 800 hours of work on behalf of the engineering and pastry teams went into the construction of the lighthouse, which also features an actual light that shines bright, beckoning guests to stay a little longer.
Guests and the public are welcome to visit the lighthouse and are invited to share their memories on social channels using the hashtag #RCMemories.
