Dallas, TX, Jan. 08, 2019 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Ossa Fisher is the new president of Istation, a Dallas-based education technology company providing computer-adaptive assessments and instruction in reading, math and Spanish literacy.
The announcement of Fisher’s promotion came from Richard H. Collins, Istation’s chairman and chief executive officer.
“Ossa is an outstanding leader for Istation, having helped guide the company in a period of unprecedented growth as both our chief marketing officer and chief operating officer,” he said. “Not only is she a leader for Istation, Ossa is sought out for her insight on management and business strategy, and Istation is poised for even brighter days with Ossa Fisher as president.”
Fisher has extensive expertise in technology, marketing and media. Prior to her career at Istation, Fisher was senior vice president of strategy and analytics at Match Inc., and was a partner at Bain & Company, working in the company’s San Francisco, Singapore and Dallas offices. She also served on the board of directors for Rackspace Hosting Inc., a leading provider of managed cloud services.
“Ossa is one of those exceptional leaders, special individuals who leave a positive impact wherever she has been involved,” Collins said. “Her experience in the technology field gave her tremendous insight into our company’s potential. We at Istation have been fortunate to have her as a member of the team. Now, as our new president, she will take Istation to even greater heights.”
As Istation enters its third decade, Fisher will guide the company as it invests in cutting-edge voice-recognition technology, ground-breaking research, and enhanced data and analytics to support pedagogical decision-making.
With these as its strategic priorities, Istation has developed a new educational technology product, the ISIP™ Oral Reading Fluency assessment.
“I am grateful to serve Istation and the over 4 million students and their teachers who use our products to help students reach their academic potential,” Fisher said. “Just like Istation always has, we will continue our efforts to help teachers as they guide students to be the best they can. Our goal, as it has been from day one at Istation, is to ensure every student has a chance to become a classroom superhero.”
Istation’s logo reflects the company’s commitment to that mission, Fisher noted. A child jumping through the air with a red cape flowing behind reflects the company’s belief that every child can reach their dream of being a superhero in the classroom. In addition to her technical experience, Fisher speaks regularly to business groups about the “Red Cape” marketing strategy and how its powerful imagery inspires teachers, parents and most importantly, students.
“Without inspiration, even the greatest technology in the world can fall flat,” she said. “With a simple image, the silhouette of a child becoming a superhero, we have seen countless students inspired to do better."
“Among the greatest joys of working with Istation is seeing the hundreds of photos teachers share with us every month of students reaching academic goals with our products. As a mother, I know how powerful that is and it keeps all of us at Istation focused on our mission to support teachers and empower students to become the best they can be.”
In addition to her work, Fisher is active in her community. She is on the board of directors for Uplift Education, one of the largest not-for-profit charter school networks in Texas. She served on the board of directors of the Woodall Rodgers Park Foundation, which helped raise over $100 million to design, build and operate the award-winning Klyde Warren Park green space in downtown Dallas. Fisher also is the president of the Yale Club of Dallas.
Fisher holds a bachelor’s degree in economics from Yale University as well as master’s degrees in both business administration and arts in education from Stanford University. She is a published writer, having been a regular contributor to Huffington Post, and is a contributor to the Forbes Communications Council. She is married and has two children.
