Adacel’s Aurora ATM System Integrates Aireon’s Space-Based ADS-B Data

Orlando, FL, USA, March 05, 2019 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- During World ATM Congress 2019, Adacel will showcase the company’s latest advancements with its Aurora ATM System, which now incorporates Aireon’s space-based Automatic Dependent Surveillance (ADS-B) Air Traffic Services (ATS) surveillance data.

Originally developed for oceanic Air Traffic Management (ATM), Adacel’s Aurora system has evolved into a cost-efficient solution for en route, approach and tower control, and is well-suited for smaller countries and island nations. The system incorporates the latest in Communication, Navigation and Surveillance (CNS)/ATM technologies, including space-based ADS-B ATS surveillance data provided by Aireon.

“Following an agreement signed with Aireon in April 2018, Adacel has successfully integrated and demonstrated Aireon’s space-based ADS-B data to various ANSPs worldwide,” says Brian Hennessey, Adacel’s V.P. of Business Development & Strategic Innovation. “Adacel’s Aurora ATM systems are used to control more than 21 percent of the world’s airspace, and the global surveillance capability provided by Aireon’s space-based ADS-B will provide real benefits to airspace users,” continues Hennessy.

Adacel’s Aurora system is a global system, scalable and configurable to meet present and future requirements. Aurora automation technology is currently in operational use in airspaces controlled by Fiji, France, Iceland, New Zealand, Norway, Portugal and the United States.

World ATM Congress 2019 will take place from 12-14 March 2019 at IFEMA, Feria de Madrid, Spain. To see a demonstration of the Aurora system, please visit Adacel’s booth #598.
