SANTA CLARA, Calif., April 01, 2019 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Adesto® Technologies Corporation (NASDAQ: IOTS), a leading provider of innovative application-specific semiconductors and embedded systems for the IoT era, today announced that OPKIX, maker of compact wearable smart cameras and companion studio editing/sharing applications, is using Adesto’s non-volatile memory in its tiny, powerful, wearable video camera, the OPKIXOne.
OPKIXOne is a wearable camera that integrates seamlessly with smartphones, enabling users to instantly capture point-of-view (POV) 1080p high definition (HD) video content without removing the paired smartphone from their pocket. The lightweight, long-lasting video device is ideal for applications such as coaching, medical applications, drones and e-sports. OPKIX was able to leverage the close relationship with Adesto and OmniVision Technologies to implement OmniVision’s 1080p 30fps image signal processor (ISP), a crucial feature of the OPKIXOne.
“In creating the smallest, smartest and most powerful wearable camera on the market, every component of the OPKIXOne was carefully selected for high quality as well as its contribution to overall system performance and efficiency,” said Lawrence Greaves, co-founder and CEO, OPKIX. “Since the Adesto SPI flash stores the code for the OPKIXOne ISP, it plays a key role in the camera’s amazing performance. Adesto provided us with best-in-class support from concept to final product, and their in-depth knowledge of camera imaging components helped us realize our vision of a tiny wearable camera with fast response time and exceptional image quality.”
In addition to working with Adesto and OmniVision, OPKIX joined forces with Arrow Electronics and other industry leaders for the technology and expertise to integrate over 1,000 components into their tiny, lightweight camera.
“Adesto’s non-volatile memory products are designed to optimize overall system performance, and we are delighted that our technology plays a key role in OPKIX’s innovative and cleverly designed camera,” said Graham Loveridge, senior director of marketing, Memory Products Division, Adesto. “The demand for wearable IoT devices across a number of industry verticals is driving the need for smarter system design. It’s critical to choose the right parts and the right partners. We look forward to continued collaboration with OPKIX, Arrow and their ecosystem of partners.”
