HPU Announces 2019 Commencement Details

Famed physicist and co-founder of String Field Theory Dr. Michio Kaku to give HPU’s 2019 Commencement address


High Point, North Carolina, April 24, 2019 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- HIGH POINT, N.C., April 24, 2019 – High Point University’s 2019 Commencement ceremony on May 11 continues the university’s tradition of bringing world-renown innovators and leaders to campus to inspire graduates. Dr. Michio Kaku, theoretical physicist, co-founder of String Field Theory, best-selling author, renowned futurist and popularizer of science, will deliver this year’s Commencement address.

 “Dr. Kaku’s dedication to scientific discovery and ability to communicate those discoveries with a wide array of audiences makes him an extraordinary innovator who will inspire our students and their families,” says HPU President Dr. Nido Qubein.

 The ceremony will begin at 9 a.m. While Commencement is a private event for HPU graduates and their family members, anyone can tune into the ceremony live online at www.highpoint.edu/live.

Nearly 10,000 people will fill HPU’s Roberts Hall Lawn for the outdoor ceremony (rain site: Millis Athletic and Convocation Center). The university will award approximately 1,000 undergraduate, graduate and doctoral degrees.
