Outwest Entertainment Signs Steven Seagal to Exclusive Long-Term Recording Contract


LOS ANGELES, Dec. 16, 1998 (PRIMEZONE) - Outwest Entertainment, Inc. (OTC BB: OUTW), has signed film star and producer-director Steven Seagal to a seven-year exclusive recording contract under which Seagal will deliver five albums to the multi-media company, Ray Ruff, Outwest's Chairman, announced today.

Marking his entrance into a new phase of the entertainment industry, Seagal will begin recording his first album of original material on January 5. Outwest has scheduled the album's release for the end of the first quarter of 1999. Outwest is in discussions with a major national retail outlet chain for promotion and distribution and also plans to couple Seagal's personal appearances to a strong television national shopping network sales effort, backed up by comprehensive radio spots and promotion.

Seagal, star of such box-office hits as "Under Siege," "Under Siege 2," "Out For Justice," "Above The Law," "Fire Down Below," and "The Glimmer Man," has also committed to a personal appearance tour to coincide with release of the first single from the album, which will be backed by a music video.

Outwest Entertainment produces music, distributes it through Navarre Corporation of Minneapolis, MN, for the Company's own label, distributes other artists on other labels, publishes music through two subsidiaries, Rufftor and Honcho Music, produces and distributes motion picture soundtracks, develops motion picture properties for production, and markets memorabilia relating to the entertainment industry.

Outwest's first soundtrack release, "Shattered Image," from the film starring William Baldwin and Annie Parillaud, is currently in release, with four additional film soundtracks scheduled to be in distribution in the first quarter of 1999.
