SalesMountain.com, Val-Pak Direct Marketing Make Pact for Integration and Distribution of Sales, Coupon Data


LOS ANGELES, Calif., Nov. 17, 1999 (PRIMEZONE) - SalesMountain.com, an Internet site focused on helping consumers nationwide find all the Sales at brick-and-mortar and online stores, and direct marketing leader Val-Pak Direct Marketing Systems, Inc., announced today that they have entered into an agreement whereby SalesMountain will integrate Val-Pak's coupon information and distribute it through the SalesMountain.com web site. Val-Pak's parent company, Cox Target Media, is a subsidiary of media giant Cox Enterprises, the parent of Cox Communications, Inc. (NYSE:COX).

Under terms of the agreement, Val-Pak, which produces the world's largest database of local coupons and mails more than 13 billion coupons annually will add its online coupons from offline retailers to SalesMountain.com's already comprehensive, Sales database. The SalesMountain.com database currently features Sales by local retail stores, national chains, online stores, catalogs and service providers.

"As a result of our agreement, consumers now have an even more comprehensive, independent guide to what's on Sale," said Lee Weinberg, SalesMountain's V.P. of Business Development and Sales.

The agreement adds approximately 30,000 coupon-based Sales to SalesMountain.com. Val-Pak and SalesMountain have, additionally, agreed to a co-advertising program including co-branded inserts featuring SalesMountain in its envelopes to more than 50,000,000 households.

"The teaming of SalesMountain.com and Val-Pak enables consumers to search a fully integrated Sales database containing all products and services," said Todd Leiser, Val-Pak's V.P. of Internet Technologies. "Integration of our offline coupons in every SalesMountain search really makes SalesMountain unique among our coupon distributors." The integration of the coupons also allows for another first: consumers may be sent "SalesGenie" email alerts for Val-Pak coupons that meet pre-set consumer requests.

Launched in July, SalesMountain.com calls itself "The Nation's Instant Sales Guidesm". It is an impartial Sales database containing thousands of Sales and special deals for products and services that consumers can search by product, service, category, store, price, and brand. Listings are updated continuously to provide Sales lovers with the most comprehensive, up-to-the-minute information possible. SalesMountain.com is free to both vendors and consumers and requires no user registration.

To use SalesMountain.com, shoppers simply enter a ZIP Code to localize information to their preferred shopping area. They may then choose to browse either by product, service, store, or brand, or use a search function to find specific items. Coupon data is fully integrated into the Sales database allowing users to choose from search results featuring both coupon and non-coupon based Sales. Listings of local Sales events are also available. Individual Sale items are displayed with store location, brand, pricing information, disclaimers, product description, images (when available) and Sales dates.
