Northrop Grumman Engineer Receives IEEE Award for Radar Excellence


NORWALK, Conn., May 23, 2000 (PRIMEZONE) -- Dr. Marshall Greenspan, director of technology, system architect and senior member of the technical staff for Northrop Grumman Corporation's (NYSE:NOC) Norden Systems business unit, has received the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) Warren D. White Award for Excellence in Radar Engineering.

The award, presented May 10 at the IEEE International Radar 2000 conference in Alexandria, Va., recognized Dr. Greenspan "for significantly advancing the art in Ground Moving Target Indication (GMTI) airborne tactical radars through the implementation of multiple phase center interferometric processing."

He is the first recipient of this award, which will be presented at least once every three years. The objective of the award is to recognize a radar engineer for outstanding achievement due to a major technical advance, or a series of advances over time, in the art of radar engineering.

Dr. Greenspan joined Norden Systems in 1962 and has designed and developed airborne and space-based multi-mode surveillance and strike radar sensor systems for a wide variety of programs. Most recently, Dr. Greenspan has provided GMTI mode support to the Discoverer II risk reduction and system Integration programs, and additionally has performed GMTI studies in support of U.S. Air Force programs.
