Competitive Technologies Client NTRU Expands Services to Digital Media Market

NTRU and IFsec to Provide Security Solutions That Protect the Distribution of Digital Media

FAIRFIELD, Conn., Sept. 25, 2000 (PRIMEZONE) -- Competitive Technologies, Inc. (AMEX:CTT) announced today that its client NTRU Cryptosystems, Inc. (www.ntru.com) and IFsec (www.ifsec.com) have formed a strategic partnership to provide customers with a unique solution for secure digital media distribution. The partnership combines the advanced encryption technology of NTRU (pronounced "En' true"), and IFsec's expert media and entertainment security consulting. It will bring content and service providers, and their customers, a strong baseline security infrastructure specifically designed to protect content delivery that does not in any way hamper the enjoyment of digital media.

"Competitive Technologies owns approximately 10% of NTRU's equity and will also receive a small royalty on revenues produced by NTRU. CTT was instrumental in providing NTRU with a suite of custom incubation services at its founding," said Frank R. McPike, President of CTT. "We are pleased to see the agreement between NTRU and IFsec. The partnership affords content providers with a high level of security as they move towards the broadband marketplace."

The NTRU - IFsec venture will enable broadband distribution with the highest levels of security and performance. NTRU's public key cryptography offers high security, high speed, small footprint, and unlimited scalability to meet today's media distribution challenges. For example, a three-hour movie can be encrypted using over 1,000 unique keys - one key for each second of video content. Other NTRU applications include securing wireless data communications, digital music and video distribution, mobile e-commerce and Internet applications. The technology was developed by a team of Brown University mathematics professors.

IFsec is a world leader in developing strategy and providing professional services to companies that need to protect their intellectual capital. Fortune 500 corporations, government agencies, major online retailers and others turn to IFsec to provide best of breed security policies and infrastructures.
