FINLAND, Jan. 1, 2001 (PRIMEZONE) -- Metso Corporation has today registered the new names of its business areas. Metso's fiber and paper technology business area is operating under the name Metso Paper, Inc., in Finnish Metso Paper Oy, Metso Paper Ab in Swedish. The rock and minerals processing group has become Metso Minerals, Inc., in Finnish Metso Minerals Oy and Metso Minerals Ab in Swedish. The automation and control technology business area has been renamed Metso Automation Inc., in Finnish Metso Automation Oy and Metso Automation Ab in Swedish.
In addition, the new name for the manufacturer of gears and components is Metso Engineering, Inc., in Finnish Metso Engineering Oy and Metso Engineering Ab in Swedish.
Tor Bergman, Metso Corporation's President and CEO from January 1, 2001, has been elected Chairman of the board of Metso Paper, Inc., Metso Automation, Inc. and Metso Minerals, Inc., as well as the manufacturer of specialty cars, Valmet Automotive, Inc. from the same date.
