BELLEVUE, Wash., Jan. 16, 2001 (PRIMEZONE). Unity Wireless Corporation (OTCBB:UTYW) announces orders of high power RF (radio frequency) amplifiers totaling over US$ 420,000 in early January. As well, following the acquisition of Ultratech Linear Solutions Inc., Unity Wireless has significantly reduced overall operating expenses, in addition to effecting changes in operations, executives and directors.
Demand for Unity Wireless's high power RF amplifiers has remained very strong through late 2000 and into the new year. The Company has received purchase orders for amplifiers in excess of US$ 420,000. The amplifiers will be delivered to the customer before the end of January.
The company-wide operational review and restructuring process currently underway is designed to increase efficiencies, reduce expenses and further focus the Company's resources on its wireless products. As part of the operational review, Ultratech Linear Solutions Inc. and Unity Wireless Corporation's Canadian operations and holding subsidiaries have now been amalgamated into one operating company - Unity Wireless Systems Corporation (UWSC), a wholly owned subsidiary located in Burnaby, Canada. Changes in board membership include John Robertson's appointment to the board of directors. Mr. Robertson also holds the executive positions of President and CEO. Tom Dodd, formerly Unity's President and Chief Operating Officer, has been appointed Senior Vice President and General Manager of the Company and UWSC.
Further to the restructuring, Unity Wireless has sold 100% of its interest in Unity Wireless Integration Corporation to a company controlled by Sia Vojdani. Mr. Vojdani has, in-turn, resigned from the board of directors of Unity Wireless. To support Unity Wireless Integration's business initiatives over the next 12 months would have required a significant investment of Unity Wireless Corporation's resources. Divesting this non-core business unit allows Unity Wireless to focus all of its efforts and resources towards wireless infrastructure technologies.
