SANTA ANA, Calif., April 4, 2001 (PRIMEZONE) -- Electric vehicle maker ZAPWORLD.COM (Nasdaq:ZAPP) announced today that Donner Corporation (DC) has signed a purchase order for up to $50,000 in ZAP products.
The purchase order for ZAP bicycles, scooters and other vehicles is for the new ZAPPYLAND(tm) store in Newport Beach, Calif. A joint venture between ZAP and DC, the new store is now open for sales, rentals and service of ZAP products in Newport Beach's tourist center, Balboa Island. ZAP manufactures and distributes an array of electric vehicles, including electric bikes, scooters, water scooters, motorcycles, neighborhood cars and more.
"Newport Beach is a great place for ZAP's products with miles of bicycle paths and beautiful weather," said Jeff Baclet of DC. "Year round tourism offers a great opportunity for rentals. At the same time, the surrounding area is a highly affluent family-oriented community that loves outdoor activities. We are having more customers than ZAPPYs to rent, which is why ZAP has signed the new purchase order."
Local radio KFWB News 980 commended the store on the air, calling it "...the wave of the future." ESPN's Sports and Music Award Show has invited the store to set up a booth for ZAP products in Hollywood. "We are thrilled, all this publicity and exposure will bring even more visibility to our store, ZAP products, and any opportunities for interested investors," said Baclet. Store manager Richard Contreras is quite pleased with the progress of the store. "Since we opened there has been a strong demand to rent the ZAP products, way above our expectations," he said.
