Turtle Beach's AudioTron Digital Music Player Now Available at Best Buy

Major Chain is Latest Retailer to Stock Home-Networked Appliance Across U.S.

YONKERS, N.Y., May 2, 2001 (PRIMEZONE) -- Turtle Beach(tm) Systems announced today that the AudioTron(tm), their home-networked digital music player, is now available at Best Buy (NYSE:BBY), the nation's number one specialty retailer of consumer electronics. The AudioTron is being sold at all 425 Best Buy stores for $299.99.

The AudioTron logs and organizes a PC's digital music files (MP3s, WMAs and WAVs), then distributes the music throughout the home wherever there is a stereo system or a set of powered speakers. Its sleek, rack-mountable form factor fits easily into a home entertainment center.

The AudioTron is a "smart stereo component" that connects remotely to PCs through a home network. It supports both Ethernet 10/100BaseT and HPNA 2.0 networking standards. With HPNA, the AudioTron connects to computers right through normal telephone jacks without interfering with regular phone service.

"The simple, elegant design of AudioTron allows users to log and organize over 30,000 songs, or about 3 1/2 months of non-stop music, with a truly revolutionary flexibility of access," said Carmine Bonanno, president and CEO of Turtle Beach. "The AudioTron needs no proprietary software to run, and includes no redundant hardware, such as hard drives, modems or CD-ROMS. We're convinced that it's just a matter of time before this is the standard in terms of home music distribution."

With the included Voyetra(r) AudioStation(r) software, the PC becomes a whole house music jukebox, delivering audio to any room where the AudioTron is located. Using either the included remote control or buttons on the base unit, users can play digital music stored on their computer. This includes MP3 and WMA files, as well as uncompressed WAV files, and displays title, artist, album and genre information for each of these file formats.
