Unity Wireless Announces New Linear Power Amplifier Program And Advanced Technology Development Group

FEDERAL WAY, Wash., Oct. 1, 2001 (PRIMEZONE) -- Unity Wireless Corporation (OTCBB:UTYW), a leading provider of innovative high performance RF power amplifiers to the wireless industry, announced today the creation of its Linear Power Amplifier & Advanced Technology Development Group, to be led by Chris Owen, B.S., CEng., M.I.E.E., who recently joined the Company as a Senior RF Engineer.

Mr. Owen joins the Company after a four-year tenure with LM Ericsson, the mobile communications leader, at their headquarters in Stockholm, Sweden, where he held responsibilities for the design and development of Ericsson MCPAs (Multi Carrier Power Amplifiers). At Unity Wireless he will be responsible for guiding the new UltraLine(TM) LPA (Linear Power Amplifier) program. Furthermore, a unique product engineering team, led by Mr. Owen, will become the heart of the Company's Advanced Technology Development Group and will be at the forefront of the world's design groups of top-end linear power amplifiers.

"The arrival of Chris Owen will allow our aggressive technology strategy to emerge and provide us with new products to support our rapid growth into the linear power amplifier market, a market that provides greater revenue and margins with relatively fewer competitors," stated John Robertson, Unity Wireless Corporation's Chief Executive Officer. "With Chris's experience at Ericsson, the world's largest manufacturer of wireless communications network equipment, we are confident that we will be at the forefront of technology development in this area within the coming year."

Christopher Owen is an Electronics Engineer with 18 years experience in Electronics design and holds a B.S. in Physics and Electronics from Manchester University and is a Chartered Engineer and a Corporate Member of the Institution of Electrical Engineers.

Before joining Unity Wireless, he spent over four years as a RF Design Consultant for Ericsson Radio Access Ltd. and was responsible for the design and development of Multi Carrier Power Amplifiers (MCPA) for Ericsson's D-AMPS and W-CDMA wireless network infrastructure. His expertise covers MCPA configurations, including Feed-Forward and Predistortion Techniques for Class A and AB RF power amplifiers in addition to RF Pulse Compression / Expansion and Antenna Characterization. He also held Senior Electronics Engineer positions with Marconi Defense Systems Ltd., Marconi Command and Control Systems Ltd. and Raytheon.

"Mr. Owen brings the talent and skill sets available to only the biggest names in wireless infrastructure," commented Raffi Antepyan, Unity's Vice President of Engineering. "Only a handful of our competitors have the capability to design, develop and produce true linear power amplifiers, and once our core Ultraline(TM) product development is complete, will widen our scope to encompass a larger segment of the RF power amplifier business."
