Color Imaging Introduces CREATE!, a New Software and Printer Control System for the Commercial Printing Industry

ATLANTA, Nov. 29, 2001 (PRIMEZONE) -- Color Imaging, Inc. (OTCBB:CIMG) announces a new state-of-the-art software package and companion printer control unit that has been specifically designed for COLOR IMAGING'S Solution Series of print systems and the commercial printer. CREATE!, running under a MS Windows(tm) environment, provides the tag, ticket, label and form designer and manufacturer with a powerful tool to create and produce an unlimited variety of documents containing variable images and data. CREATE!, when integrated with the new Pentium PC based printer control unit, also provides for the real time management and control of document production at printing rates up to 550 pages per minute.

CREATE! eliminates all pre-press processing and setup as digital imaging replaces all printing plate requirements, multiple images are digitally created in the PC and while one image is printed the next image is created. The complexity of any image or data stream is only limited by available PC memory. CREATE! also allows for simplex or duplex modes of printing with the ability to synchronize the Solution Series print engine to press speeds.

CREATE! uses object-oriented design to produce variable and static images and provides numerous methods to choose any numbering sequence imaginable. The possibilities are endless, sequences can be obtained by using a combination of controls in Create!, or from standard data file formats including Excel(tm), dBase(tm), Access(tm), FoxPro(tm), Paradox(tm), CSV and fixed record length files. Variable text, such as a name or address, can be inserted into a static text string and then the text "wraps" to the next line when it reaches the end of a "text box."

The software allows for barcodes, shapes, graphics and text. All of the popular barcode symbologies are included such as UPC, EAN 13, Code39, Code128, UCC128, Code93, Postnet, Codabar, Interleaved 2-of-5 and PDF417. Graphics can be imported from several different formats such as "bmp," "pcx" and "tif," and placed on the document as static or variable information. Several different graphics can be included in a job and can change dynamically based on a changing data field. Text can be placed in any orientation using True Type fonts, providing the document designer with a selection of thousands of usable font choices.

The designer and operator have several other tools at their disposal. Image Preview functions allow the designer to verify the sequencing on the PC screen or proof to an office printer prior to press time. Print Logs enable the operator to monitor the use of consumables and print status. Help Systems provide the press operator with detailed step-by-step instructions for maintenance and troubleshooting of the printing hardware.

Color Imaging develops and manufactures consumable products used in laser printers and copiers and supplies complete commercial printing systems. Consumable products include black text, color and specialty toners including MICR (magnetic ink characters that are printed on checks and other financial documents). A complete printing system that installs directly on most offset presses is provided for the commercial printer. The system expands conventional offset printing capabilities to include the printing of unlimited computer-driven variable data, including images, bar codes, MICR and alphanumeric sequences. These functions address the needs of the commercial printer for the digital processing and printing of variable data at extremely high speeds and eliminates all conventional prepress processes such as the preparation of printing plates and mixing of inks.
