Coram Earns Accreditation with Commendation

DENVER, Jan. 3, 2002 (PRIMEZONE) -- Coram Healthcare Corporation (OTCBB:CRHEQ) today announced that it has been approved with Commendation for accreditation by the Accreditation Commission for Health Care, Inc. (ACHC). The accreditation is for a three-year period beginning January 1, 2002, and covers Coram's pharmacy home infusion, infusion nursing, clinical respiratory, home medical equipment and rehab technology supplier services.

"The Commission commends you and your staff for the outstanding work as demonstrated by your excellent scores," wrote Sherry A. Samuels, the Commission's Director of Accreditation Services, in a letter announcing the results of the accreditation survey to Coram's Senior Vice President of Clinical Operations, Kate Douglass.

"Coram is known for its strong commitment to clinical excellence on behalf of patients, and every employee here is justifiably proud of this accreditation finding," said Coram Chairman, President and CEO Daniel D. Crowley. "Quality is essential to our success, and I want to thank all of the employees throughout the organization whose passion for quality patient care makes this kind of performance possible."

As part of its rigorous corporate accreditation process, ACHC's survey team visited the corporate office located in Denver, Colorado, interviewed employees, examined policies and procedures manuals and reviewed operational practices and outcomes. ACHC will conduct ongoing surveys at Coram locations to monitor continued compliance with ACHC standards throughout the three-year term of the accreditation.

Prior to its affiliation with ACHC, Coram Healthcare maintained an accreditation relationship with the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations for six years.

ACHC was established in 1986 specifically to conduct accreditation services for home-care providers. Based in Raleigh, N.C., ACHC is a private, non-profit organization whose mission is to promote quality healthcare through standards, peer review, credentialing and education.

Denver-based Coram Healthcare Corporation, through its subsidiaries, including all branch offices, is a national leader in providing specialty infusion therapies and support for clinical trials.
