WJ Communications Expands Semiconductor Line with a New High-Dynamic Range MESFET

The FP101 for Receiver and Transmitter Applications

SAN JOSE, Calif., Jan. 18, 2002 (PRIMEZONE) -- WJ Communications, Inc. (Nasdaq:WJCI), a leading designer and supplier of high-performance RF components for communications equipment manufacturers, today announced the availability of a high dynamic range, low cost Field Effect Transistor (FET), the FP101. This product is targeted for applications requiring medium power as well as high efficiency and linearity.

"The FP101 provides customers with WJ's advanced GaAs technology and high reliability at frequencies up to 3 GHz for their receiver and transmitter applications, " said Skip Hoover, Executive Vice President, Business Development of WJ Communications. "We continue to broaden our product line, offering leading wireless infrastructure engineers a wider range of options that all carry the WJ standard of quality."

The FP101 is a general-purpose, high dynamic range GaAs MESFET, that combines a low 2 dB noise figure with 1 dB compressed output power of 26 dBm and third order intercept point of 39 dBm. This product covers a frequency range of 50 to 3000MHz, making it useful in cellular, iDEN, PCS, DCS, PHS, W-CDMA, DECT, GSM, UMTS, ISM, TETRA, Bluetooth, 802.11b and MMDS applications. The FP101 achieves a high dynamic range at a mounting temperature of 80 degrees C with an associated MTTF of greater than 100 years. All devices are 100% RF and dc tested on a wafer.

The FP101 is packaged in a low-cost surface mount industry standard SOT-89. The units are available for immediate delivery and are priced at $1.75 in quantities of 10,000 units.
