Nordea Bank Polska Receives Awards for e-Banking and Friendly Service

STOCKHOLM, Sweden, Jan. 21, 2002 (PRIMEZONE) -- Nordea's e-banking concept introduced in Poland last October resulted in Nordea Bank Polska receiving the country's most prestigious IT award, and Nordea Bank Polska Gdansk Branch was named the friendliest branch in the country by the Polish National Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

Poland's IT magazines Pckurier and Telenetforum called on experts and journalists to select the winner of the annual SIR 2001 award. Nordea Bank Polska began implementing the new IT system throughout its operations during 2001, and it was only last October that the e-banking concept was introduced.

Nordea has previously been recognized as a market leader in e-banking and has won the British magazine the Banker's award for "Best Online Business Strategy" for the past two years. The National Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the Polish-American Consultancy Fund for SMEs and the Warsaw Banking Institute gave the "The Entrepreneurs' Friendly Bank" award to the Nordea Bank Polska Gdansk Branch.

"It's very satisfying to see the efforts of our staff and our investments recognized," said Thomas Neckmar, Head of Regional Bank Baltic and Poland" especially since we now have offices in most major Polish cities and are continuously developing our services to our Nordic and Polish customers."

Nordea is the leading financial services group in the Nordic and Baltic Sea region and operates through four business areas: Retail Banking, Asset Management & Life, Corporate and Institutional Banking and General Insurance. The Nordea Group has nearly 11 million customers, 1,260 bank branches and 125 insurance service centres in 21 countries. The Nordea Group is a world leader in Internet banking, with more than 2.7 million e-customers. The Nordea share is listed in Stockholm, Helsinki and Copenhagen.
