WJ Communications Expands Its Diode Mixer Line for Wireless Infrastructure Applications

High Isolation Frequency Conversion Products Added to WJ's Portfolio

SAN JOSE, Calif., Feb. 6, 2002 (PRIMEZONE) -- WJ Communications, Inc. (Nasdaq:WJCI), a leading designer and supplier of high-performance RF components for communications equipment manufacturers, today announced the expansion of its mixer line with three new high isolation mixers, designed to improve system performance and reduce design complexity in 2.5G and 3G wireless infrastructure applications.

"We are addressing the latest needs of telecommunication OEM's by providing superior high isolation frequency conversion products at low, competitive prices," stated Ron Buswell, Senior Vice President of Business Operations. "These mixers can substantially reduce base station transceiver costs and design complexity by easing filtering requirements. WJ continues its role as a manufacturer of affordable and highly reliable RF components delivered on time."

Technology Overview

Frequency conversion requires a Local Oscillator (LO) signal that is generally at a much higher power level than the other Radio Frequency (RF) signals in the system. High L-R isolation is often required in upconversion applications to suppress the LO signal and ease the requirements for downstream filtering. This improves system performance and reduces cost. Covering the Cellular and PCS frequency bands, the mixers feature: Input IP3 of plus 25 dBm and L-R isolation of 49 dB, while requiring only plus 13 dBm of LO input power. The mixers are housed in an industry standard SME package type and are ideal for upconversion applications in mobile infrastructure where high isolation is required.

WJ Communications, an ISO 9001-certified manufacturer headquartered in San Jose, California, designs, develops and manufactures innovative broadband communications products for current and next generation wireless communications networks and fiber optics.
