WJ Communications Unveils New Products at the Wireless Systems Design Conference and Expo

WJ's Product Lines Expand with New Amplifiers, FETs and Mixers

SAN JOSE, Calif., Feb. 25, 2002 (PRIMEZONE) -- WJ Communications, Inc. (Nasdaq:WJCI), a leading designer and supplier of high-performance RF components for communications equipment manufacturers, today announced that the Company will feature many new products at the Wireless Systems Design Conference, to take place at the San Jose Convention Center, February 26th through February 28th. Please stop by booth No.631 to see WJ's latest Amplifiers, FETs and Mixers.

"WJ Communications continues to expand its product lines, offering the OEM's a wide variety of solutions for their wireless applications," stated Skip Hoover, Executive Vice President, Business Development. "WJ has the history and the excellence to be the premium RF semiconductor components brand for the telecommunications industry."

Technology Overview

Amplifiers: The AG101 and AH201 were recently introduced. The AG101 is a low-cost, highly linear GaAs MMIC amplifier. The AG101 provides 14 dB of gain and operates from 250 MHz to 3000 MHz. This product is housed in an industry standard SOT-89A. The AH201 is a high power (1 Watt), high dynamic range amplifier. The AH201 operates from a single supply voltage and is an internally matched device. This product is extremely wide band and operates from 40 MHz to over 2 GHz. Exceptional thermal design allows the unit to achieve +47 dBm IP3 performance at a mounting temperature of +85 degrees C. This product is packaged in a 6x6 mm surface mount package (QFN). These units are suitable for 2.5G and 3G Wireless Infrastructure and Base-station Applications.

FETs: The FH101 and FP101 are the two newest additions to our FET family. The FH101 is a low-cost FET with a low noise figure of 2.0 dB, up to 18 dB of gain, P1dB of 18 dBm and operates at a frequency of up to 3000 MHz. The FP101 is a high dynamic range MESFET that combines a low 2.0 dB noise figure with 1 dB compressed output power of 26 dBm and third order intercept point of +39 dBm. This product covers a frequency range of 50 to 3000 MHz. Both the FH101 and FP101 are housed in industry standard SOT-89 packages and are designed for receiver and transmitter applications.

Mixers: Five new mixers have been released for wireless applications. The MH101 and MH102 are UMTS surface mount MMIC mixers for 2.5G and 3G transceiver applications. High IP3 and a low-cost package ($2.25/10K) offer unprecedented performance and value in a single chip solution. These are housed in standard surface-mount SOIC-8 plastic packages. Three new high isolation quad diode mixers were introduced earlier this month. The SME1903-13, SME902-13 and SME904-13 offer industry leading L-R port isolation to reduce transceiver design complexity and cost. These products are targeted for 2.5G and 3G wireless infrastructure applications. These mixers feature: Input IP3 of +25 dBm and L-R isolation of 49 dB, while requiring only +13 dBm of LO input power. The mixers are housed in an industry standard SME package type and are ideal for upconversion applications where high isolation is required.

Thin Film: WJ introduced new polished aluminum nitride 'AlN' thin film capability for wireless applications. Aluminum Nitride is widely used in high power semiconductors. A key property of AlN is high thermal conductivity, which enables exceptional electrical performance while maintaining high reliability.
