Skanska to Build New Landmark in London -- Contract Valued at SEK 1.25 billion, GBP 85 M

STOCKHOLM, Sweden, April 2, 2002 (PRIMEZONE) -- Skanska's British subsidiary Skanska UK has been contracted to build Moor House, a 19-story office and retail development at the center of London's financial district. The contract is valued at SEK 1,250 million, or GBP 85 M.

The customer is Moor House Property Development, a new real estate company owned jointly by Henderson, Greycoat and Hammerson. The contract is included in order bookings for the second quarter of 2002.

Foster and Partners, led by Sir Norman Foster, designed the Moor House. The same architect designed Swiss Re's spectacular head office, which is currently under construction by Skanska just a few hundred meters from the current project.

The new office is being constructed at the intersection of London Wall and Moorgate, close to Liverpool Street Station. The 19-story building has 29,000 square meters of office space, with retail units at lower ground, ground and first floor levels.

Work on site is due to start in early April and Moor House is scheduled to be completed in March 2004. Skanska has been providing a full pre-construction procurement service since last year, including appointing subcontractors. In addition, the piling and foundation work was carried out by Skanska.
