Stuart M. Brightman Appointed President of Dresser Flow Control

Former President of Americas Operations Chosen to Lead Business Unit


DALLAS, April 2, 2002 (PRIMEZONE) -- Dresser, Inc. President and CEO Patrick Murray today announced the appointment of Stuart M. Brightman to the position of president of Dresser Flow Control, a business unit of Dresser, Inc. Mr. Brightman was previously president, Americas Operations for the business unit, and will report to Mr. Murray in his new position.

Mr. Brightman started his career in 1978 with Arthur Young in Boston, Massachusetts. In 1982, he joined Cameron Iron Works in Houston, Texas as assistant controller of the Oil Tool Division. He subsequently served in Scotland as a plant manager and general manager of ball valve products. After Cooper Industries acquired Cameron Oil Tools in 1991, he was assigned as product sales manager of Transmission and Distribution Products for Cooper Oil Tools in Houston. In 1993, Mr. Brightman joined Wheatley TXT Corporation as senior vice president of operations. Following the acquisition of Wheatley TXT by Dresser Industries, Inc. in 1994, he was appointed senior vice president of the Dresser Oilfield Valve Division. In 1995, Mr. Brightman was promoted to president of the division, then made president of US operations of the newly formed Dresser Energy Valve Division that later became part of Dresser Flow Control. In early 2001, Mr. Brightman was part of a management team that led the leveraged buyout of Dresser Equipment Group (the present Dresser, Inc.) by investment firms First Reserve Corporation and Odyssey Investment Partners LLC.

Mr. Brightman holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Economics from the University of Pennsylvania (1978) and a Master of Business Administration degree from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania (1982). He and his wife Randi are the proud parents of two children, David and Lauren.
