Danish SONOFON Selects WM-data as Outsourcing Partner

STOCKHOLM, Sweden, Aug. 12, 2002 (PRIMEZONE) -- Danish SONOFON and WM-data have signed a four-year strategic outsourcing contract. Under the terms of the agreement, WM-data takes over operations and support for SONOFON's central IT system. The system is currently utilized by about 2,000 users at 65 offices and includes some 350 servers. As a result of the agreement, 75 of SONOFON's employees transfer to WM-data.

The agreement with SONOFON, one of Denmark's largest telecom operators, means that WM-data assumes total responsibility for operation of SONOFON's IT system. In addition, WM-data strengthens its office in Aalborg with 75 new employees from SONOFON, who will be included in WM- data's operations within Infra Solutions.

"We are convinced that our skilled employees will enjoy being with WM- data and we are pleased about the continued cooperation with them and WM- data, which is one of our main suppliers of high-quality services," said Ulrik Bulow, President, SONOFON Denmark.

"This agreement represents a key element in our plan that will secure SONOFON's objective to enhance the efficiency of operations, increase profitability and strengthen our position in the highly competitive market in Denmark," continued Bulow. "Previously, we outsourced such functions as inventory and payroll administration, from which we have had favorable experience. Our goal is to release management resources in this way to focus on our core operations, that is, to deliver inexpensive and effective telephony."

WM-data will assume responsibility for operation of SONOFON's servers, system, network, communications and support services. WM-data's expertise in Oracle systems, Unix, networks, IT operations and storage services was decisive in SONOFON's selection of a partner. The good relations between WM-data's and SONOFON's employees also played a key role.

"Partnering with SONOFON is strategically important for WM-data and we foresee a highly valuable partnership between our operations," said Jesper Scharff. Country Manager, WM-data Denmark. "As a result of this agreement, SONOFON becomes one of the Group's largest customers.

"I am also pleased to welcome 75 new employees to WM-data. SONOFON's personnel have good experience and expertise, which will be highly valuable as we jointly work to attract more customers," concluded Jesper Scharff.
