Scandiaconsult Receives Major Order from Finnish Road Administration

STOCKHOLM, Sweden, Dec. 12, 2002 (PRIMEZONE) -- Scandiaconsult has been commissioned by the Finnish Road Administration to survey the maintenance requirements of about 30 000 km of roads in Finland over five years. The contract sum is estimated at more than SEK 50m.

The state of the roads, including road surface damage and rut depth, will be surveyed using road surface measurement techniques. The measurements obtained will provide a good picture of what maintenance action is required to optimise maintenance work.

Scandiaconsult's road maintenance department, RST, will conduct the measurement work together with Scandiaconsult's Finnish unit, SCC Viatek. The work will be started on 1 April 2003 and will thereafter be conducted annually from April to October. This contract strengthens Scandiaconsult's position as one of Europe's leading consultants in the planning of operation and maintenance of infrastructure. RST has been conducting advanced measurement assignments since the mid 1980s for a variety of clients including the Swedish National Road Administration and several of Sweden's municipalities.

"The advanced technical content combined with long experience and local presence has gained us the confidence of the Finnish Road Administration. This Finnish contract is strategically important for the continued internationalisation of our measurement operations," says Hakan Rask from RST.
